This piece is designed by artist and founder Tyler Hays and handmade from start to finish in his Philadelphia workshop. Tyler and his team hand-paint every Distant Bather artwork, and the frames are crafted and finished in-house, so each piece comes fully made under one roof.

Tyler Hays is an American artist and designer known for his cross-disciplinary approach to making, working fluidly between painting, sculpture, ceramics, textiles, and finely crafted furniture. He champions a philosophy of building everything from scratch—mixing his own paints, crafting tools, and embracing traditional techniques rooted in material integrity. Raised in rural Oregon and trained as a painter, Hays brings a deep respect for craftsmanship and self-sufficiency to his work, blurring the boundaries between art, design, and function. His pieces are celebrated for their meticulous detail, timeless character, and the distinct handmade ethos that defines his creative world.
